Welcome to Matus1976's Akira Bike Project. I started this project in the summer of 2001 and through many years continue to diligently work on this project despite numerous setbacks and life challenges. I appreciate all the patient interest and support I've recieved from the regular visitors to the site. My primary passions are physics, science, and mechanical design, though I am an avid student of philosophy, history, and appreciate good objective art. This project evolved out of my deep appreciation for design coupled with a desire to pick a great project to focus on. As a great admirer of Katsuhiro Otomo's, Syd Mead, and an avid motorcyclist, I decided to tackle the bike Kaneda rides in Otomo's masterpiece "Akira" This bike, however, is not a spitting image of the bike from the film, nor is it intended to be, it is first and foremost a functional ride, and secondarily inspired heavily by the aesthetic of the bike from the movie - unlike most other incarnations of the Akira Bike. Please note the popularity of the project is growing and I am recieving many comments and questions on the bike, I may not have time to respond to each one individually, so do not be offended. Also refer to the before sending me any questions. If your question is answered on this site, I will most likely not respond to it. Please send an email to request to recieve update notifications and please add 'Akira Bike' to the subject of any email sent to me.
